All directions in books and patterns are specifically for Needle Tatting (not shuttle tatting - although it's not hard to convert them).  All threads are size 20 Lizbeth Tatting thread so you don't need to worry about accidentally ordering the wrong size.  The beauty of handmade lace is nearly a lost art - bringing high quality Needle Tatting supplies to a new generation of crafters is a delight.
